“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”

- Arthur C. Clarke

Bubaki is a creative studio based in Limerick, Ireland. Our work is multidisciplinary and we exist at the intersection of art and technology. Driven by curiosity, we create life-affirming experiences that enable us to tune into our sense of wonder, community and play. We lead creative technology workshops to enable artists to develop their creative practice and we are always open for new collaborations.

Bubaki is led by the artist-engineer duo Catherine Ireton and Luis Berna Moya. Luis is a Human Computer Interaction researcher and he has been working in the field of multi-sensory technology for the past 7 years completing his PhD at Sussex University in haptic technology. Catherine is a multidisciplinary artist with an MA in Music and Sonic Media and a background in theatre. For the past ten years she has designed and created interactive experiences for venues and festivals including the Shanghai International Arts Festival, and Seoul Central Railway Station, Korea.

In 2021 they won the title “Sussex Entrepreneurs of the Year” for their concepts on placemaking in cities. They have an extended network of scientists, designers, artists and engineers that they collaborate with to create unique interactive experiences.
